The main function of a bond market is to be the mediator between investors
and depositors. In Malaysia, the Ringgit bond market includes Government
securities and personal debt securities.
The
Banking and Financial Institutions Act 1989 was introduced to provide
for an integrated supervision of the Malaysian financial system and also to
provide Bank Negara Malaysia with the power to investigate and prosecute, if
necessary, any illegal activities.
