Several government agencies are involved in the filmmaking process,
i.e. from the point of production to the point of screening. The
lead agency in nurturing, promoting and facilitating the development of
the film industry in Malaysia is the National
Film Development Corporation (FINAS), which falls under the Ministry
of Culture, Arts and Heritage.
Apart from FINAS, there are other agencies that are responsible for
overseeing other aspects of filmmaking such as broadcast content
monitoring, censorship control, and intellectual property control.
