Since gaining independence in 1957, Malaysia has conducted a General Election (GE) whenever the Dewan Rakyat (House of Representatives) is dissolved.
Who Is Eligible to Vote?
- Are a Malaysian citizen;
- Are 18 years of age or older; and
- Meet all the requirements to be registered as a voter.
Eligible citizens have the right to vote in elections as provided under Article 119 of the Federal Constitution.
