The Malaysia Volunteer Corps Department (RELA) is a federal government department under the Ministry of Home Affairs (KDN) that manages a volunteer-based security force. RELA plays an important role in supporting national security, public safety, unity, social harmony, and the well-being of the nation through voluntary participation by the community.
Under the Malaysia Volunteer Corps Act 2012 (Act 752), the primary roles of RELA include:
- Assisting security authorities whenever required.
- Supporting traffic control and public safety operations.
- Participating in community service activities.
- Assisting in the protection of government buildings, statutory bodies, and private property upon request.
Individuals who voluntarily join RELA are known as RELA members.
Membership: valid for five (5) years from the date of registration and may be renewed, subject to the prescribed requirements.

While carrying out official duties, RELA members are recognised as public servants under the Penal Code (Act 574).

As recognition for their voluntary service, RELA members are entitled to:
