A derivative pension (pencen terbitan) is a monthly pension payment provided by the government to eligible dependents of:
- Pension scheme retirees
- Public service officers under the pension scheme who pass away while in service
- Armed forces veterans (ATM) on pension
Who is eligible to receive a derivative pension?
- Legitimate widow/ widower
Receives pension for life (subject to certain conditions)
- Children
- Biological child
- Adopted child
- Illegitimate child
- Disabled child
Eligibility conditions:
- Must be unmarried
- Up to 18 years old, or
- Up to 21 years old (until obtaining a first degree)
- For life if the child is permanently disabled (OKU) and unable to work (subject to committee approval)
