Volunteering is not only about contributing your energy and expertise to benefit the community and society. It also requires specific knowledge and skills for specialised activities such as providing emotional and psychosocial support to victims.
Through the Social Institute of Malaysia (ISM), you can participate in several volunteering workshops that can enhance your knowledge, skills and competencies as a volunteer.
Among the Programmes Offered:
- Basic-Level Volunteer Workshop
Introduction to the principles, ethics and philosophy of volunteering, rights and responsibilities, as well as the basic skills required by volunteers.
- Intermediate-Level Volunteer Workshop
Knowledge of leadership skills, conflict management, fundraising, activity management, building strategic networks and volunteer data management.
- Advanced-Level Volunteer Workshop
Knowledge of advocacy and legislation as well as community empowerment.
- Training for Trainers (TOT) Workshop for Volunteers
Exposure to the role of trainers, characteristics of effective trainers and techniques for effective delivery.
- Psychological First Aid Course (Psychological First Aid - PFA)
Exposure to crises/disasters and their psychological impact on victims, as well as applying the principles of PFA actions:
