What is MyKad?
MyKad is a smart identity card for Malaysian citizens introduced by the National Registration Department (JPN). It serves as an official identity document for individuals aged 12 and above. MyKad is equipped with a chip that stores the owner's personal information and can be used for various official procedures.
MyKad Features
Starting 17 September 2026, the National Registration Department has introduced the New Generation MyKad with enhanced security features.
Existing MyKad holders are not required to switch to the New Generation MyKad as long as their current MyKad is not damaged.
