Institutions for Persons with Disabilities (OKUs) refer to shelters, care centers, and rehabilitation facilities established for individuals with disabilities who require continuous support in their daily lives.
Main Objectives:
- Provide protection and care for OKUs without caregivers or who are unable to live independently
- Provide rehabilitation so OKUs can achieve the highest possible level of independence
- Reduce dependency of OKUs on others
There are 10 institutions under JKM:
- 7 Taman Sinar Harapan institutions
- 2 Bengkel Daya institutions
- 1 training institution – Industrial Training and Rehabilitation Centre (PLPP) Bangi
These institutions are directly managed by the Department of Social Welfare (JKM) under the Ministry of Women, Family, and Community Development (KPWKM).
