Veteran: Malaysian citizens who have served full-time in the armed forces and have not been retired or dismissed from service due to misconduct in any of the following forces:
- Regular Malaysian Armed Forces
- Volunteer forces mobilized full-time by the Malaysian Armed Forces (regardless of service period)
- Force 136
- British Army who served in Malaya, Malaysia or Singapore
- Sarawak Rangers
