The National Unity Policy is a policy introduced by the Ministry of National Unity to strengthen unity and harmony among Malaysia’s multi-ethnic society. This policy serves as the nation’s primary guide in promoting national integration, building a national identity, and fostering closer relationships among citizens of different races, religions, and cultures. The National Unity Policy focuses on three main pillars: Patriotism and democracy based on the Federal Constitution and the Rukun Negara Building a national identity and a society that is ethical, principled, and of high moral character Fostering an ecosystem of unity in everyday life
The Student Volunteers Foundation (YSS) is an entity under the Ministry of National Unity that is committed to advancing national integration and unity through the promotion of volunteerism among Malaysian university students. Since its establishment in 2012, YSS has carried out more than 100 high-impact missions across Malaysia and the Southeast Asian region (Indonesia, Laos, and Vietnam). These missions have successfully benefited and positively impacted more than 1 million people within local communities. The Department of Social Welfare (JKM) offers community volunteer programmes to encourage public participation in welfare activities and social assistance for those in need. Volunteer activity categories: Social support services and counselling guidance Rehabilitation and healthcare services, as well as moral and academic education Religious, sports, cultural, and arts programmes Job placement assistance Disaster management Home Help Services Programme (KBDR) General requirements to become a JKM volunteer: Malaysian citizen aged 18 years and above Willing, interested, and committed to volunteering in welfare services for the department’s clients Physically and mentally fit No criminal record Applications can be submitted at any JKM office or online.
The eKomuniti Portal is an online platform developed by the Department of Social Welfare (JKM) to encourage public participation in welfare and volunteerism activities while strengthening collaboration between the government, welfare organisations, the corporate sector, and the public. MyCHAMPION is a health volunteer programme where registered and trained volunteers help disseminate health information, promote healthy lifestyles, and encourage environmental sustainability within their communities. Background The MyCHAMPION programme was introduced in 2020 with the participation of volunteers from seven entities under the Ministry of Health Malaysia (MOH): COMBI KOSPEN Know Your Medicines Ambassador (DKUA) Dental Icon Programme Health Clinic Advisory Panel (PPKK) Village Health Representative (Sarawak) C-HAT Master Trainers (JU C-HAT) Roles of MyCHAMPION: Educate, empower, and mobilise individuals, families, and communities to adopt healthy lifestyles and promote environmental sustainability Conduct behavioural change intervention activities to prevent and control disease risk factors Carry out advisory, reminder, guidance, and awareness activities to encourage communities to continuously practise healthy living Serve as community role models in promoting healthy lifestyle practices Eligibility Criteria: Open to all individuals aged 18 years and above. MyCHAMPION Registration: Register through the MySejahtera application. After registration, the MyCHAMPION training kit, which includes digital handbooks, videos, and website links for reporting volunteer activities, will be sent via email. Rakan Muda Volunteers is an initiative under Rakan Prihatin, one of the 10 Rakan Muda lifestyle pillars that promotes and nurtures the spirit of volunteerism. Rakan Muda Volunteers are: Individuals aged 15 to 30 years Malaysian citizens Volunteers who participate in programmes organised by the Rakan Muda Development Division, National Department of Youth and Sports (JBSN), Ministry of Youth and Sports (KBS) Rakan Muda Volunteers also play an important role in fostering empathy, teamwork, and social responsibility among Malaysian youth. Activities carried out under the Rakan Muda Volunteers programme include: Community volunteering Providing assistance to those in need Welfare and humanitarian programmes Disaster relief assistance Social and community awareness activities
The MADANI Community Well-being Programme (SejaTi MADANI) is a government initiative managed by the Implementation Coordination Unit, Prime Minister’s Department (ICU JPM) to improve community income and socioeconomic well-being. Target participants: Resident communities registered with the relevant authorities Youth communities registered with the Registrar of Youth Societies (ROY) Application requirements: Programmes or activities that improve the socioeconomic well-being of local communities across six key sectors Quick-win programmes that deliver measurable outcomes within a short period of three (3) to six (6) months Six (6) key sectors: Agriculture and food Sewing and handicrafts Herbal products and health Tourism and hospitality Green initiatives and recycling Services Programme implementation process: Application Approval Funding of up to RM100,000 Programme monitoring Certificate of Verification Communities or youth associations must first register through the MySejaTi MADANI portal to obtain a registration ID before submitting any application.
