Special Education Schools are schools that provide special education for students with special educational needs (MBPK) at all levels of schooling. These schools are directly managed by the Special Education Division, MOE. The schools established for special education are equipped with facilities such as therapy rooms, teaching aids and trained teachers. Programs provided for MBPK in Malaysia: Special Education Integration Program (PPKI) A special program in mainstream schools for MBPK. Students are placed in special classes but share the same environment with other students. Offered at both primary and secondary levels nationwide. Inclusive Education Program Unlike PPKI, MBPK are given the opportunity to study in mainstream classes with peers, with learning support and adjustments according to individual needs. Special Education Secondary School Category Special Education Secondary Schools are divided into several types, depending on the category of students: Schools fully dedicated to MBPK excelling in academics. Equipped with special facilities such as teaching aids, speech therapy, special education resource rooms, and trained teachers. Offer skills-based education to help MBPK build careers after school. Courses include Sewing Technology, Food Preparation, and Mechanics. Special Education Programs in Controlled Secondary Schools (MOE) MBPK are placed in PPKI classes in regular secondary schools. They follow a special program but can still join activities with other students. MBPK attend mainstream classes together with other students in government or government-aided schools. Used in SMPKV, focusing on vocational training for MBPK. Students may obtain the Malaysian Vocational Certificate (SVM) and Malaysian Skills Certificate (SKM), allowing them to enter the workforce or continue at skills colleges.
