The People’s Housing Program (PPR) is a Federal Government initiative through the Ministry of Local Government Development (KPKT) to provide comfortable, safe, and affordable housing for low-income groups in Malaysia. There are 2 categories of PPR: PPR for Rent – rented at RM124 per month. PPR for Ownership – selling price between RM35,000 – RM42,000 per unit (depending on location). House Features: 700 square feet in size 3 bedrooms, 1 living room, 1 kitchen & 1 bathroom Basic facilities such as community hall, surau, playground, and shop Eligibility Criteria: Aged 18 and above Household income not exceeding RM3,000 per month Does not already own a house Must reside in the area of application
Rumah Mesra Rakyat (RMR) Programme is a government initiative implemented through Syarikat Perumahan Negara Berhad (SPNB) to help low-income households own comfortable and safe homes on their own land. This programme enables eligible applicants to build a house on their own land with a monthly repayment of only RM300, over a period of 16 to 25 years. Eligibility requirements: Malaysian Citizen Aged 18 – 65 years Household income not exceeding RM5,000 per month Applicant and spouse do not own their own house or existing house is not in good condition Own own land or have written permission from the land owner to build a house Land area not less than 3,000 square feet
The Housing Credit Guarantee Scheme (SJKP) is a special program by SJKP Berhad, an agency under the Ministry of Finance (MOF). It was introduced to help individuals with irregular income who face difficulties securing housing loans from conventional financial institutions. Target Groups include: Self-employed (small traders, hawkers, farmers) Gig workers (Grab, Foodpanda, freelancers) Micro-entrepreneurs, hawkers, and workers without fixed payslips Two scheme categories: SJKP Scheme Financing up to RM500,000 SJKP Madani Scheme Financing up to RM360,000 This scheme allows loans for up to 2 generations or a maximum of 35 years.
