There are various forms of assistance available for secondary school students to ease their financial burden and ensure they can continue their education smoothly. Here are some of the main assistance offered: Special assistance to students from low-income families to help them maintain academic and co-curricular excellence throughout secondary schooling KWAPM aims to help poor students not to drop out of education Types of Assistance: General School Assistance (BAmP) Emergency Assistance (BK) BAP aims to ease the burden of school expenses borne by parents or guardians at the beginning of the year Eligibility Criteria: Malaysian Citizen Students in Year 1 to Form 5 or equivalent for the current school session Special assistance to student athletes who meet the following conditions: Government Secondary Schools and Government Aided Schools under the Ministry of Education Form 1 to Form 5 students in daily secondary schools and Year 1 and 2 students in the Ministry of Education Vocational College Show excellent performance in sports by at least representing the state at the national level in the MSSM, the Ministry of Education Sports League, School High Performance Sports (SPTS), National High Performance Sports (SPTN) as well as sports championships/competitions recognized by the National/International Sports Body Applied by the responsible teacher in each school An initiative from YPM to help poor students at the school level as an encouragement to improve academic performance. There is also a Secondary School Small Scholarship (BKSM) offered by the State Government. Students can check their respective state portals for more information about BKSM.
EMBPK is a monthly financial assistance from MOE for OKU students in government/government-aided schools in special education programs. Eligibility Criteria: Malaysian citizen Registered in: Government/government-aided schools Integrated Special Education Programs (PPKI) or Full Special Education Schools Registered OKU with JKM Not receiving any other scholarship Amount RM150/month Throughout the school year (subject to attendance and school confirmation).
The Higher Education Financial Assistance for Disabled Students (BKOKU) aims to improve and expand lifelong learning opportunities for OKU pursuing studies at Public/Private Universities, Community Colleges, and Polytechnics under the Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE). Eligibility: Malaysian citizen Registered with JKM and holds an OKU card Enrolled in MQA-accredited courses Part-time or distance learning students also eligible Not on paid study leave (full/partial) Applications via SisPO – OKU Sponsorship System
The government through Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE) and related agencies provides facilities to ease the burden of students in Higher Education Institutions, whether IPTA or IPTS. Among the main facilities: MySiswa Card An initiative of the Ministry of Higher Education (KPT) together with Public Universities in Malaysia and RHB Bank A special discount card for IPT students that allows them to enjoy discounts on the purchase of books, food, transportation, computer goods, clothing and others. Student housing and dormitories Most higher education institutions provide residential college facilities with affordable rental rates. Check with your respective residential college about these facilities.
